PLEASE do not take your cat there if you want her/him to be OK. I did, and 5 months of around the clock care and $4000 went down the drain BUT most importantly, my cat became as sick as when she first crashed. I am angry, frustrated, feeling guilty for trusting this vet while my cat is still suffering...
I could write A LOT of things that are wrong with that vet, Deanne Durham, but I will just say this: She prescribed meds WITHOUT explaining the potential side effects, totally dangerous for my cat's underlying condition. When sadly she did suffer from those side effects, I took her in as emergency, but the vet threw a tantrum, was quite unstable, agitated, threw her arms in the air and gesticulated and lectured me for over 10 minutes!
When I said that had I known about those side effects I might have not given the meds, but I do not take meds so I don't know, her response was " I don't take meds either so I don't know!!!" I could only mustered "Yes, ... but you are ... a vet!"
She also did not explain HOW to administer that med., how time sensitive it was (found out from the tech) and after all that, she did NOT even look at, touch my cat or ask how she was... I was there because my cat was really sick! At the front desk, surprise! They charged me for exam/consultation!
I strongly believe that as a parent, the more I know about my cat's condition and understand it, the better care I can provide.
This vet has confidence issues, every time I asked a question or run something by her she would get defensive and aggressive at the same time and it was either her way or no way.
She actually stopped Epogen, a very sensitive anemia drug, when almost all vets consider this dangerous to do. Now my cat is anemic again and new vet is not sure we can treat her again with this drug.
I truly feel she caused my cat to relapse since 4 days before taking that med. she was doing extremely well, as proven by blood-work and behavior. Now, we are still trying to get her better... although as vet said "Maybe she IS supposed to be lethargic and sleep all day, maybe she was alert and doing well because she was hypertensive"... I wonder what cats might think of that philosophy?
She also kept my other cat and I waiting for 45 minutes for our appointment and never bothered during that time to even send someone in to explain why or apologize. Apparently she had a walk-in =worth more= treating. Profit seems to be extremely important to this vet, she is even charging for prescriptions filled outside her very expensive practice.
Overall, extremely bad experience in a very short time, but sadly my cat's health suffered the most because of this vet.
